I've been thinking the spindle bearings need attention, but I'm not sure. One VMC (30 taper 8K RPM) operators manual I have lists max acceptable spindle temp rise of 40°C over ambient, or Max of 80°C (175°F). This seems high. Should a spindle (mill or lathe) running at 175°F scare me?
